Local Prescott contractor Ability Remodeling hired Anastasis to design and fabricate large steel and wood signs to display at jobsites of work in progress. This is heavy-duty, high-quality signage that stands out from other cheap plastic contractor signs and is meant to convey the caliber of care Ability puts into their work.

Barnwood Light Series
I was asked to design, fabricate, and install some custom lighting for a very high-end home about to be placed on the market.
The existing light fixtures were cheap, underscaled, and not suited to the overall look and feel of this very grand entryway.
The same was true in the kitchen. Over the island were two small, cheap pendants. I made a large suspended fixture with ten individual lamps (controlled by an in-wall dimmer) from two intersecting barn beams.
This L-shaped chandelier followed the island beneath, adding needed illumination and atmosphere, and was suspended from the ceiling using real lasso rope.
The beams, like the wood for the entry sconces, were reclaimed from a Colorado farm demolition project in 2014 that just keeps on giving.
These beams were capped with copper boxes which were given an darkened patina look through the help of an oxidizer.
Yes, there is a burned-out bulb in these photos. One arrived in the mail with broken filaments – I had to take my photos before I could get the replacement!
The soft arch of the central sconce in the foyer is formed from a pair of leaf springs found at my local salvage yard.
Schultz Kitchen: Spice Rack
This spice rack for the Schultz Kitchen was built last year, as you can see the process here, but only recently did all the many, many spices get transferred by the homeowner into a coordinating set of glass jars, which brings a visual cohesion to the whole thing (and justifies the sidelighting!) Here are some photos.
And, as the homeowner is a transplant from South Carolina, she got a talented signpainter to letter a “meat-and-three” menu on this existing pocket door which I skinned with a rustic piece of galvanized sheet metal.
Steel Collage Gate + Lighted Handrail
I designed and built these outdoor metal elements for a home in the tall pines of Prescott, Arizona. The six-foot high fence and gate are an assemblage of various steel artifacts I salvaged from a variety of sources.
The homeowner needed a rail along the irregular concrete steps leading up to the entry from the driveway. The handrail is a large #8 rebar, which is great for grip with its ridges, and is supported by paired angle posts.
Each post holds an original light fixture made from 22-ga sheet steel with low-voltage landscape bulbs. The rail posts and lights will rust in time (though shown here in brand-new condition.)
Steel Rolling Door
At the Schultz house, the bedroom door is replaced by a custom steel-clad rolling panel and hardware, to match the style of the fireplace surround in the living room. The outside handle is a variant of the Parallelism Handle.
Fireplace Surround
Another design element to the Schultz House takes shape, in keeping with the industrial chic look – retrofitting an existing gas fireplace with a steel wrap.
Double Rolling Door Hardware + Parallelism Handles
I fabricated and installed rolling hardware and custom handles for bi-parting doors between a master bedroom and master bath in a new home in Prescott, Arizona.
Channel Sconce
I designed and fabricated a set of wall-washing exterior sconces that use the simplicity of a length of steel C-channel combined with a single LED standard-base bulb. The low humidity of the Arizona high desert will allow the raw steel to slowly develop a patina over time at this beautiful new home in Prescott, Arizona.

Andrew creates the world’s heaviest floor-to-ceiling spice rack for a custom residential kitchen with a decidedly industrial-chic vibe.
